Coates Design was hired by the Southeast Thurston Fire Authority to design a remodel for several facilities.
In 2018, Coates Design designed a remodel of the S.E. Thurston Fire Station #22. The project converted an unused station into a full-time facility for professional staff serving the Lawrence Lake area of Thurston County. The existing two-bay station received an addition of six sleeping rooms and full residential support facilities along with a much-needed public meeting space.
The S.E. Thurston Fire Authority also tasked Coates Design to provide a remodel of Station #24 serving the Rainier area of Thurston County. The station lacks living quarters, so firefighters must stay in a three-bedroom complex on the site, which adversely affects response times. The remedy for this is to modify the station to properly equip and house firefighters to respond to the high volume of activity out of the Rainier area.
Coates Design continues to work with the S.E. Thurston Fire Authority to design remodels of their fire stations as they work to improve response times. This watercolor for the fire department headquarters, Station #21, was recently finished by Stephanie Bower.
Due to the Corona Virus outbreak the S.E. Thurston Fire Authority has delayed a bond issue to fund these projects until timing appears improved. Stay tuned for more updates!
