Stationed along the west shoreline of Bainbridge Island, the featured home was designed to maximize its Olympic Mountain panoramas and entertain a natural correspondence between the interior and exterior spaces. “Given the dynamic charge behind the sustainable movement, there are so many opportunities to integrate conservational elements in residential design,” says architect Matthew Coates. Orienting the layout to enjoy abundant natural light, Coates also implemented a framework of responsibility harvested lumber, a hydronic radiant heating system and a passive solar design component to round out the home’s impressive register of eco-conscious features.
